Managing your Privacy risk, supporting revenue generation, and having the answers for internal and external stakeholders when you need them, all depends on having a clear understanding of what Privacy (really Data Protection) means for the organisation.
But GDPR is notoriously complex and most organisations don’t have dedicated Privacy professionals in-house.
Who’s dealing with Privacy?
As Cisco reports, in 90% of cases, Privacy is thrown at IT, Security, Ops and Compliance. Professionals in their fields, but not in Privacy. (In case you’re wondering, Cisco say 9% of the time it’s with Legal who, in our experience, are often generalist in-house lawyers – again experts, but not usually in Privacy.)
One thing they all have in common is that they already have full-time day jobs before Privacy is added to the list. So they need efficient help to get to grips with Privacy and ongoing support. And even Privacy experts need help!
